A Live, Interactive Webinar

Friday, June 10 | 12:00 - 2:00 PM EST

The past two and a quarter years have required a seachange in the way that clinical social workers have provided psychotherapy.  Using telemental health has affected LCSWs in ways that were unanticipated, perhaps permanently.

Learning Objectives:

  • To describe the extent to which "virtual" (i.e. phone/video) experiences can supplant or replace in-person experiences;
  • To explain the history of LCSW use of telemental health over the past 10-15 years;
  • To cite the ethical issues that have arisen as a result of the exponential increase in the use of audio only and videoconferencing;
  • To review the Survey results of CSWA members’ use of telemental health based on recent Survey;
  • To describe the possible future that LCSWs are facing in terms of returning to in-person practice, continuing telemental health practice, or a combination of both.

    There will be three panelists who have expert knowledge of the clinical and ethical use of telemental health, presenting for 30 minutes each, followed by a half-hour Q&A.  Mirean Coleman, LICSW, NASW National Clinical Director; Joel Kanter, LCSW-C, well-known author and lecturer; and Laura Groshong, LICSW, CSWA Director, Policy and Practice. Kendra Roberson, PhD, CSWA President, will be moderator.

    This is your chance to find out how telemental health practice is affecting your colleagues, and consider the issues that will help you move forward in making good practice decisions.

    Target Audience: clinical social workers

    Content level: intermediate

    This 2 credit (ETHICS) course was developed for clinical social work professionals. The course will help LICSWs determine when and how to safely return to our office practices, as many states edge closer to ‘opening up’ in-person treatment. The ethical issues connected to returning to the office will also be discussed.  This webinars will help participants make this complicated decision in these difficult times.  Here is your chance to ask all the questions you have about making this important choice.
